Much has been given

"From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked." Luke 12:48

This week I was asked about my incarnational community days and what seemed normal to me in a Christian context seemed so extreme looking back. Was it really just to much of an ask in today's modern context? Why would you give your free time (and not so free time), love people who don't even like you alot of the time, put their needs first and not get payed a dime in fact it costs you money?! Were we plan crazy, naive or just readying ourselves for burn out?

What does this verse tell us? Is it that God has given us ... ME! soo much that much much more is asked. Expected! I have heard alot about abandon self in the Christian context but how can we really say we are abandoned unless we give up stuff.

Thinking this week i'm not so sure I have applied this verse to myself before. I mean God has give so much to others, their gifted, they are much more spiritual, their skilled up on stage. But wait God has given me much! How selfish to say otherwise? How unthankful is it? So then if I have been given much I really do have to get off my sorry ass and do something more than play happy consumer Christian. It's not an option for me.
